WELL DRESSING PHOTOGRAPHS
MIDDLETON BY YOULGRAVE   May 2007

Middleton Dale sheep wash

The old sheepwash area in Middleton Dale is used to soak the clay panels for two weeks

The panels are then marked out with brown wool using the scaled up design which was printed on paper as a template.
Each panel is then 'petalled' by volunteers for the five days prior to the blessing of the well on Saturday

Petalling a well dressing takes a week of intensive work by locals
Volunteers are welcome to help insert the thousands of petals and herbage needed to complete the design. The work is kept damp with newspaper and water spray throughout the week.
